About the Auðkenni App

All you need is an internet connection when you have digital ID in the Auðkenni App. You no longer need to rely on a phone connection to authenticate and sign on the web.

Download the Auðkenni App.

It is available in the App Store and Google Play. Once the app is on your phone, you can create electronic credentials in it, either through self-registration or at a registration authority.

Conditions for activating electronic certificates through self-service:

• Have a valid Icelandic passport or Icelandic ID card.

• Make use of a mobile phone that supports NFC.

• Must be 13 years of age. Those under 18 require a guardian's signature.

Conditions for obtaining digital ID in the Auðkenni App at the registration authority:

• Have an Icelandic identification number (kennitala).

• Limit the use of a mobile phone or smart device.

• Present allowed personal ID.

• Those under 18 years of age require the signature of a guardian.
