Name changes

The information in digital ID is based on information from Registers Iceland as of the date the certificates were issued. If a person changes their name, adds a name, or removes a name, the change will not automatically appear on their existing digital ID. The digital ID must be revoked and new ones issued with the updated information.

If the person has an Icelandic passport or Icelandic ID card, they can set up the Auðkennisapp in self-registration. New digital ID can also always be issued at a registration authority upon presentation of valid personal ID.
