Application for digital ID on Auðkenni card
To obtain electronic certificates on an Identity Card, an application must be filled out.
Individuals who have used employee identification should in most cases be able to use electronic credentials on an Identity Card to perform all electronic transactions on behalf of a legal entity as long as the person has a power of attorney or authorization on the website of the relevant service provider. In some cases, however, hardware credentials may need to replace employee identification since electronic credentials on Auðkenni card do not contain the legal entity's identification number.
This is how the application process works:
You fill out an application for an Auðkenni card.
In the application, you choose a registration location that is most convenient for you to attend and pick up the ID card. Note that it is necessary to appear in person at the registration location, no exceptions are granted from this rule.
You pay the annual fee for the card through the Auðkenni payment gateway.
You need to bring your identification to the registration center you have chosen to collect your Auðkenni card.
