Mandate for a legal representative
When applying for electronic certificates for a legal entity, an authorized representative must be specified in the application.

According to Auðkenni’s rules on the management and issuance of electronic certificates, an authorized representative must sign applications for electronic certificates on behalf of the relevant legal entity.
The authorized representative is the person who has the authority to bind the legal entity. They must therefore hold a power of procuration or have an authorization from a registered holder of such procuration.
If the authority of an authorized representative is not registered in the Company Register, a separate power of attorney must be prepared.
Process for issuing a power of attorney
In the application the following must be completed:
Company ID number (legal entity)
ID number of the authorised signatory of the legal entity according to the Company Register
Representative’s ID number
When the above information has been entered, click the ÁFRAM button (NEXT), and then a summary of the information that was recorded will be displayed.
It is important to review the information and confirm that it is correct.
If the information is correct, click the Generate authorization button.
Then an authorization document appears that must be signed electronically. You need to create a PDF of the document, for example by choosing Print and saving it as a PDF.
An authorized representative must sign the power of attorney document with an electronic signature.
Once the document has been signed electronically, it must be sent to the email address audkenni@audkenni.is.
Note! Auðkenni does not receive any information about the application until the document is sent by email. When the signed document has been received by Auðkenni, the signature is reviewed by staff and it is confirmed that the representative has the authority to grant the power of attorney.
Auðkenni staff inform both the legal representative and the proxy holder when a power of attorney has been granted.
Once authorization has been confirmed, the representative can handle applications and the administration of electronic certificates on behalf of the respective legal entity.
The authorization is valid until it is revoked in writing.
