Auðkenni Credential Chain

Authentication Credentials are issued and convey trust from Íslandsrót, which is owned by the Icelandic government. The intermediary credential Fullgilt audkenni and under it, all credentials for users are issued.

The computer's certificate storage needs to be examined before credentials are installed on it.

For hardware credentials and seals to function properly, the root certificate Íslandsrót 2021 and the intermediate certificate Fullgilt audkenni 2021 must be installed in the correct location in the computer's certificate store.

A certificate chain of trust is used to verify that a user's credentials are issued by a trusted entity.
