Soon it will be possible to use Icelandic ID cards, issued from 1 March 2024 onwards, for self-registration in the Auðkenni App.

The functionality is expected to be available before the end of July.

All Icelandic citizens can apply for an ID card. Two types are available:

• identity card as a travel document

• identity card that is not a travel document

It will still be possible to use Icelandic passports for self-registration in the Auðkenni App.
