Nexus software
You need to install the Nexus Personal software for an older version of the ID cards

Older versions of the cards were issued before 16 September 2022; these cards have the cardholder’s name and ID number on the back of the card.
Choose to download the software according to the operating system on your computer.
Note:
The Linux versions only support Debian-based Linux operating systems.
Instructions for installation on Windows and Linux
First you need to download the Nexus Personal software.
Select "Save As..." and save the software to your computer.
Double-click the program where you saved it and run it. Use the default settings.
After the program has been installed and is running, the "Nexus Personal" icon should be visible in the computer’s system tray.
In some cases, you need to restart the computer after installation.
Instructions for installation on Mac
Card reader
Connect the card reader to the USB port on your computer, unless it already has a built‑in card reader. In most cases, the computer will automatically find the correct driver, in much the same way as when a new printer is connected.Set up Nexus Personal
So that the card reader can read the ID card, you need to install the Nexus Personal software (see the link above to download it)Insert the ID into the reader
Insert the card with the electronic ID into the reader so that the chip faces up and towards the reader. When the card reader is reading the ID, the “Personal icon” in the bottom bar should start spinning.Start the browser
Now start the browser you want to use; you can try logging in, for example to your online bank or some other website that supports electronic ID on a card. Remember that you should only use the first 4 digits of the PIN code.
It can be tricky for Mac users to use the online customs clearance service from the Directorate of Customs. We recommend that you follow the user guide.
